NEW SKIES, 2025
video loop
0:30 min
New Skies was developed in 2025 within the work phase Transitory Space / New Skies.
It consists of Hallauer’s first animation artwork, constructing a dreamlike loop that moves between memory, presence, and the longing for a future. The work reflects on migration as a continuous state between departure and arrival, between what is left behind and what lies ahead. A heron lifts off from a landscape that begins to grow cold, transforming into an airplane in midflight. The two forms of departure become connected: one animal, one technological, both moving toward new horizons. The transformation reflects the experience of migration as a condition between escape and survival, absence and possibility, past and future. Accompanied by a guitar solo, the soundscape carries a sense of memory and distance. Its echoes preserve traces of origin, wilderness, and the untamed spaces left behind, creating a dialogue between movement and belonging, between the places one leaves and the skies one continues to seek.
