New Skies brings together recent works by Severin Hallauer that examine inheritance, migration, memory, and belonging through the experience of being in transit. Across sculpture, installation, moving image, photography, and text, the exhibition moves between intimate autobiography and larger questions of origin: what we inherit, what we carry with us, and what must be left behind.

Throughout the exhibition, objects associated with protection, home, and movement become unstable. A suitcase shifts from container to burden; an airplane window becomes a space of suspended intimacy; a family tree takes physical form as hundreds of fragments of stained glass; inherited gestures and memories reappear through materials, objects, and images. Structures intended to provide safety repeatedly become forms of enclosure.

Rather than treating departure as a clean break, New Skies inhabits the space between leaving and arriving—between attachment and emancipation, exposure and protection, the histories that shape us and the possibility of moving beyond them. The exhibition offers no final resolution, but a series of thresholds through which identity remains in motion.
